Prospects for the application of dimethyl sulfoxide and dimethyl sulfone in animal production
This article provides a brief overview of the physical and chemical properties of dimethyl sulfoxide and dimethyl sulfone, as well as their current applications in various industries. It points out that various new application developments are still ongoing and have broad prospects. At the same time, the application prospects of it in animal production, especially in nutrition, were discussed, and some opinions and suggestions were put forward.
Dimethyl sulfoxide and dimethyl sulfoxide, as widely used production raw materials, play an increasingly important role in national production. With the rapid development of China’s economy and the continuous expansion of new uses, they have been applied to various industries and are still being explored, with broad prospects for production and application development.
1. Physical and chemical properties of dimethyl sulfoxide and dimethyl sulfone
1.1 Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO): Molecular formula (CH3) 2S0, colorless transparent viscous liquid at room temperature, bitter taste, slightly odorous, and slightly alkaline Boiling point 189 ℃, crystallization point 18.45 ℃, specific gravity (120 ℃) 1.101, it has high polarity, high hygroscopicity, high boiling point and flammability, extremely low toxicity, good thermal stability, soluble in most organic substances such as water, ethanol, acetone, benzene and chloroform but not easily soluble in alkanes. It is a strong polar solvent with strong permeability to the body. This product is a weak oxidant. Dimethyl sulfoxide, which does not contain water, is non corrosive to metals. When it contains water, it is corrosive to metals such as iron and copper, but not to aluminum. It is stable to alkali and produces small amounts of compounds such as methyl mercaptan, formaldehyde, dimethyl sulfide, and methanesulfonic acid when heated in the presence of acid.
1.2 Dimethyl sulfone (MSM): Molecular formula (CH3) 2SO2, white needle shaped crystal, melting point (760mmHg) 109 ℃, boiling point (760mmHg) 238 ℃, specific gravity (26 ℃) 1.450-1.455, polarity 9.5, solubility parameter 14.5. Easily soluble in water, ethanol, methanol, benzene, acetone, slightly soluble in ether, chloroform. non-toxic.
The main specifications of the product are: 20-40 mesh, 40-60 mesh, 60-80 mesh, and
80-100 mesh. We can also produce high-purity dimethyl sulfoxide according to customer needs, such as non oxygenated dimethyl sulfoxide and distillation grade
